How to Multiply Variables with Exponents (Multiplication Property of Exponents)
In this video, we go over how to use multiplication properties of exponents. I will show you a lot of examples, using positive exponents, and we will discuss the rule when multiplying variables with exponents and coefficients. Multiplying exponents with the same base is easy if you know the rules! This is just one of the laws of exponents. If you are in pre-Algebra, or are a teacher or parent with a student in pre-Algebra, this is one of my pre-Algebra series videos where I cover all of the typical skills you might see in a pre-Algebra class!
Chapters:
0:00 Intro
0:20 Rule for exponents
1:00 Rule for different variables
1:44 Rule for coefficients
2:44 Challenge problem

    So what you've done is break the long division symbol such that it CANNOT POSSIBLY be used for decimal division. Great job. Next we'll be teaching children to count by cutting off fingers and toes. Thankyou for trying to help people. This remains an aberration that should be scorched from existence. Literally rip it out of books and burn the pages and leave no records behind so that the idea cannot spread.

      Could you please explain what you mean? How is this not a useful tool just because someone might know 24 can be divided by 3? Let's say you're right and someone doesn't know 24/3=8, there are many ways to get there. You could also use the factors of 4 & 6 to get to 3 & 8 since 4x2=8 and 6/2=3. This was just one example! • @MyTutoringBee

      The two tens are not prime numbers (meaning they are evenly divisible by numbers other than 1 and itself) so we needed to keep factoring all of the numbers until we got down to ONLY prime numbers, in this case, those prime numbers were 2 x 2 x 5 x 5 x 5 (<-- if you were to multiply all of those prime numbers out, you would get 500 again). Once we have all of the prime numbers identified, then we can simplify the cube root. Thanks so much for your question!

      I agree that this method does typically take longer than the standard algorithm if you understand and know how to do the standard algorithm well! However, "more confusing" is subjective. Some students find the standard algorithm to be very confusing, and find this method a lot easier to understand! It's definitely not about speed with this one - it's about finding what works best for you! Thanks for watching and your comment!

    This entire video is a mistake 😂 First, there is no single mistake with the math, there are 2. First is adding 4 instead of subtracting 4. Then you have 4 being added to 32, and 4 being subtracted from 4-x. So first mistake is bad maths. Second mistake is sneaking in a major error that results in a change to the whole equation. But the last mistake is acting like it's 1 mistake.

    Doesnt this method not always work past very basic linear equations? Isnt it better to just plug in a point to the equation to determine on which side of a line you should shade, especially as you go ahead and start shading multiple lines at once, and doing more advanced math which incorporates the idea later on?

    • @MyTutoringBee
      @MyTutoringBee 9 місяців тому

      Substituting a point is a GREAT way to determine where to shade! Unfortunately, not many alg 1 students will take the time to do this. So my goal with students new to this skill it to teach them to think of the shading in terms of y and shade above or below the y-intercept instead of "left or right" of the line! Great point, though! Subbing in a point is a much more accurate way to shade!
